Orlando news: Magic Kingdom’s top seven attractions

Magic Kingdom is consistently the most visited theme park on the planet year by year, reaching 17.7 million visitors in 2023.

With such popularity comes busy days and heavy queues; however, what else can you expect at one of the world's most magical places?

Magic Kingdom offers attractions in abundance, which means narrowing down a list of seven is no easy task.

Here, Florida News Blitz writer Joseph Hannen ranks the seven best attractions Magic Kingdom has to offer.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

A somewhat underrated ride kicks off the list; a ride on the PeopleMover is always worth your time.

Whether you need a break or are fascinated by what the future may hold, this 10-minute ride is always an enjoyable experience.

The PeopleMover brings the Tomorrowland section of the park to life and is undoubtedly a fan-favourite amongst many visitors.

A calm and informative ride around Tomorrowland with a fast-moving queue? Make sure not to miss out on a ride on the PeopleMover.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Slightly upping the intensity is the Pirates of the Caribbean boat ride, found in the bottom left corner of Adventureland.

This dark and eerie boat ride takes guests on a swashbuckling voyage during a time when pirates ruled the seas.

From the Spanish Fort themed queue to a Johnny Depp appearance along the way, this is an excellent pick for all visitors, especially those who love the films.

Audio updates have further improved the ride, with all the figures and animatronics still in top shape to this day.

Jungle Cruise

The Jungle Cruise is one of Disney World’s most classic rides, taking guests on an entertaining and silly riverboat cruise.

The ride includes a fairly cheesy and funny script as guests gently flow through simulated rivers in Africa, Asia, and South America.

The duration is around 10 minutes, making it another perfect attraction for those who want to relax and be entertained.

Featured scenes include hippos and lions on the Nile, Gorillas in the African Congo, and a waterfall on the Mekong River.

Space Mountain

Certainly a fan favourite for thrill-seekers, and one of my favourite roller coasters across all the Disney parks is next, as Space Mountain sits fourth.

The extensive indoor queue sets the scene well before a ride into the unknown, with guests riding in pitch black conditions.

The darkness makes the ride feel faster and more intense than it actually is, and the fact that you never know which way you're going to turn makes Space Mountain a very entertaining ride.

I remember when queues would sit at the two-hour mark most days, so it's highly refreshing to see queue times at a much more sensible level for all to enjoy.

Haunted House

The ever-popular and family favourite Haunted House cracks open the top three for me.

This ride will only ever gain popularity over the years to come due to its iconic status and excellent rider experience.

The mix of music, scares, and effects combines for an unforgettable experience through the mansion.

The lengthy ride time and the ride's high attention to detail mean you're guaranteed to see something new after every ride, making it a must-do during your visit.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

The successor of Splash Mountain has been an enormous success so far, as it continues to be one of the park's most popular rides.

This classic log flume is a lengthy experience inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog.

While the ride follows the same ride system and layout, it features Tiana and her friends as riders, who are taken on a musical adventure with the ride using new music and incorporating New Orleans culture.

But of course, the highlight remains the same, the 50-foot signature plunge soaks riders on this successfully revamped attraction.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

It may come from some thrill-speaker bias, but Magic Kingdom’s most recent roller coaster, TRON, edges the top spot for me.

The highlight comes at the start, with an intense launch reaching speeds close to 60mph.

The motorbike-style vehicles and modified seating provide a more unique experience compared to all of Disney’s other roller coasters.

Despite its high speeds, TRON provides a very comfortable ride, and despite the potentially high queue times, I thoroughly recommend making time for this attraction.
