Florida news: NFL Preview - Jaguars welcome Colts, Buccaneers face Saints, and Dolphins on the road against the Jets

The Jacksonville Jaguars & Tampa Bay Buccaneers both welcome teams to the Sunshine State this weekend, whilst the Miami Dolphins face the New York Jets in an all-AFC East battle.

All three Floridian fixtures will be played at 6pm (UK) this upcoming Sunday, with two teams looking to secure significant wins as the playoff picture looms.

Here, Florida News Blitz writer Luke Maddison previews each fixture and predicts how they will play out.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Indianapolis Colts

Coming off the back of a comfortable 25-3 win against the Tennessee Titans, the Jaguars will be hoping they can make it four wins in a row against the high-flying Colts.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence and his teammates are currently top of the AFC South, sitting just above their Week 14 opponents.

The Jags go into the game with an 8-4 record and a very high chance of making the playoffs, but this won’t be an easy challenge for them by any means.

After losing their last two games against the Chiefs and Texans, the Indianapolis Colts have an identical 8-4 record heading into Sunday.

The Playoffs looked certain for the Franchise earlier in the season, but are now no longer a sure thing, especially with Star Quarterback Daniel Jones playing through an injury.

It was revealed before the game against the Texans that Jones had suffered a fracture in his fibula, but he showed his sheer toughness and continued to suit up and play.

This game is one to watch on Sunday, as the winner will take top spot in the AFC South with only five weeks left of the regular season.

My Prediction: Trevor Lawrence to throw 2+ Passing touchdowns & the Jaguars to win the match.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New Orleans Saints

The Buccaneers have only won one of their last four games, struggling against some very tough opponents, including the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams.

Following a close win over the Arizona Cardinals, coach Todd Bowles and the Bucs face the easiest fixture among the three Florida teams this weekend.

One massive positive for the franchise was the return of running back Bucky Irving, who had missed the last seven games due to injury.

After scoring a touchdown on his first game back, Baker Mayfield spoke on Irving after the win against the Cardinals.

He said: “Starting with Bucky, just the explosive playability, just having him back out there, he gets a lot of attention whether he’s getting the ball or not.

“When you have three healthy backs, they can kind of rotate in and feed off each other; it’s great.”

The struggling New Orleans Saints have only won two games all season and have a 2-10 record, with the Bucs looking to make a statement at the Raymond James Stadium.

If Mayfield and his compadres manage to secure the win, they will have an 86% chance of reaching the NFL playoffs.

My Prediction: Bucky Irving to score a touchdown and the Bucs to win by 10+ points.

New York Jets vs Miami Dolphins

Unfortunately for both teams in this fixture, their hopes for a playoff spot are very much dead in the water.

The 5-7 Miami Dolphins visit the MetLife Stadium in Week 14, coming up against fellow division rivals, the New York Jets.

Even after securing three wins on the bounce, the Dolphins still have less than 1 percent chance of making the playoffs.

It was always going to be tough in the AFC East for coach Mike McDaniel and his team, having to compete with the likes of the Bills and one of the Super Bowl favourites, the New England Patriots.

The Jets have also been in the same predicament, managing only a 3-9 record, putting them at the bottom of their division.

With not many weeks left in the regular season, both franchises will want to get wins on the board and build some positivity as the year closes out.

Without doubt, it won’t be the most important game to watch this weekend, but it should be one of the more interesting games to watch, with hopefully plenty of touchdowns.

My Prediction: The Miami Dolphins to win the match, and Jaylen Waddle to score a touchdown.
